 Muskegon, MI: Joni & Friends

  Trip Dates: June 17-21, 2013
  Trip Cost: $445 + transportation
  Team Leader: Vinnie Adams

This is a unique opportunity to let God use your time, your hands, and your heart to make an eternal difference in the life of a child, teen, or adult with a disability. Joni & Friends Family Retreat is a one week vacation experience for families affected by disability and is held at the Maranatha Conference Center in Muskegon, MI (right on Lake Michigan). As a volunteer, you will be paired with a disabled child or adult and assist them throughout the week. It’s your job to simply be a friend, giving the gift of your time and love. You will eat meals with your assigned family and join them in most program activities. Together, you’ll enjoy a wide variety of Family Retreat activities – from swimming, boating, and water-skiing, to horseback riding, hiking, zip lines and climbing walls. During the day, you will provide service and leadership to the children and youth so that moms and dads can attend seminars, hear biblical teaching, and enjoy time together as a couple. You'll have free time in the afternoon. Then, you'll join back up with your family for evening events. Through the simplicity of your service, you'll have the opportunity to build relationships where you can share the gospel, helping others find hope in Jesus. No previous experience with disability? No problem. Every volunteer is fully trained before the Family Retreat begins – there’s nothing to fear!

Lexington, KY: Young Life Expeditions

Trip Dates: July 7-13, 2013
Trip Cost: $250 + transportation (scholarships available for those serving from the same family)
Team Leader: Jan Mulder

Young Life leaders in Lexington, KY have a rich tradition of loving youth in their neighborhood! Young Life Lexington brings the gospel of Jesus Christ to youth in 12 Junior High and Senior High schools. These schools are economically and racially diverse, over ½ of students are on a reduced lunch program. This team will be able to serve alongside Young Life in a variety of ways such as painting the Young Life office, assisting with a school-focused service project, and serving at a post-camp celebration. Young Life Expeditions is one of the best ways to build bridges in God’s family while bringing the love of Jesus to an area. This team is uniquely focused to invite families to serve together (5th grade and older) or perhaps members from several generations of one family. We look forward to serving with you in Lexington this summer!

 Haiti: God's Littlest Angels

Trip Dates: November 4-11, 2013
Trip Cost: $1,200
Team Leaders: Ryan & Sue Matthysse

GLA currently cares for about 100 children, ranging in age from newborn to approximately 10 years old. These children have been brought to GLA because they cannot be cared for in their current situations. GLA employs Haitian nannies who are responsible for the basic care of the children. However, with so many children, the nannies are unable to give the children the one-on-one attention they so badly crave and deserve. This is where volunteers can help. This could be a life-changing week for you as we meet, serve, and love the beautiful people in Haiti. We will be serving the children of God's Littlest Angels orphanage (GLA), located in the Kenscoff mountain range above Petion-Ville. We launched our first mission trip to Haiti in June 2012, and we look forward to this next trip.

In addition to the Faith Church application below, this trip also requires the GLA application located here: Download Application

Honduras: All God's Children

Trip Dates: January 2014
Trip Cost: $1,600
Team Leaders: Paul & Dyan Lagestee

Within the country of Honduras, thousands of children become orphaned or abandoned each year. Many children are surrendered to orphanages by parents or guardians who are simply unable to feed them; others end up on the streets, living an existence that spirals downward into daily acts of desperation in an attempt to survive. Founded in 1988 by Carmen Bateta, All God’s Children has grown out of the passion to serve these children and the young people of Honduras. Faith Church has been a ministry partner with All God’s Children for many years making numerous trips and even sponsoring some of the children there. The mission team is excited to be sending a team down to El Hogar this winter through All God’s Children. If you have a willing servant’s heart, we would love to see you be a part of this trip. Participants will serve by organizing games and activities with the younger children at the orphanage to promote relationship building or working alongside older boys in construction projects.
