The Most Excellent Way

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered and keeps no record or wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” I don’t know about you, but these words from 1 Corinthians 13 are convicting to say the least!

It would be easy to look at a passage like this and think “we will never match up” or convince ourselves to lower the bar, but nowhere in the Bible can I find God in the bar lowering business!

Passages like these are meant to encourage us and challenge us to reflect on our own love and ask ourselves “is this me?” and if it’s not, “where could I grow?” Today is not the day to shrink back into old habits, but spring forth to love; For “perfect love drives out all fear.” There is something the world has identified with Christianity for over 2000 years and Jesus sums it up like this” by this the world will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Additional thoughts:
A friend of mine remarked that if you take out the words “love” and “it” from the scripture above and replace them with “Jesus” you will get a real sense of this passage- and I agree, now what if you place your name in there?? Makes it a little more convicting, huh!! God’s richest blessings to you this week!
