This past January Faith Church did a shuffle on one of our staff. We asked Karla Weemhoff to consider moving from the Director of Mini-church (small groups) to the Director of Weekend Programming and Communication. She felt led and accepted this new post. A great move!
Karla has helped us move to a new level of communication across the board. As the Lord leads us into more and more sites, it requires a ton of oversight, coordination and communication. Karla is doing an outstanding job. I have asked her a few questions that will give you a window into who she is and what she does.
Biggest role in life? Mom of four wonderful Weem’s and wife to Dave.
Major in college? Biology major, minor in chemistry, secondary education and Dave Weemhoff.
How did you end up at Faith Church? Dave and I were married in 1998 and started looking for an “alive” church and a place where we could feel God’s spirit. Faith was it.
What is a mini-church? It is a small group of people that meet to learn about God, His Word, hang out and share life.
How many hours a week do you work at Faith? 20 hours.
Give us a glimpse into what you do. I help communicate and clarify what needs to be planned out between pastors, campuses, worship leaders and equip staff to make their jobs flow more easily.
What moments make you say “Yippee!”? When a team prays, wrestles and sees God show up in cool ways to accomplish the tasks.
What moments make you want to scream? When things are done last minute!
Have you been able to see improvement already over the last 6 months? Yes, there is more communication, collaboration between pastors/worship leaders about sermon content and messages and creative elements for weekend series.
Hometown? Waupun, Wisconsin. (About an hour west of my hometown, Oostburg.)
What did you want to be when you were growing up? Doctor. (Thanks, Dr. Karla)
What is your most pressing need? Balance in life with being a mom, wife, employee and friend.
Favorite splurge food? Giordano’s spinach deep dish. (Also desserts! I witnessed this!)
Favorite TV show? Parenthood and Duck Dynasty. (Duck Dynasty must quack her up!)
What excites you about life? Everything!
What excites you about Faith Church? God is using us to lead people to Jesus and in many different communities and to the far parts of the world.
What is the natural color of your hair? Dishwater.
Are you more often early or late? I like to be early but often late.
You are a closet ________ fan. Golf.
What do people not know about you? I use to be a high school chemistry teacher. (Geek!)
If you were king for a day what would be your first decree? All couples who get married get one year off to travel the world for free to just love one another and God’s creation.
I believe you were married in 1996…were the first two years THAT forgettable?!
Dave, The Bible says a day is like a 1,000 years….. what’s 2 missed years:-)
