Some of you have heard rumors and have been asking questions about a campus of Faith Church starting in southwest Michigan. While I can think of no better place to launch a church site than “Pure Michigan”, we are currently not planning to launch a Faith Church site there.
However, since there are many Faith Church members and others who travel to this area of “The Mitten” each summer for vacations, there is a great potential to help develop a thriving worship community. Over the last few months, some Faith Church leaders have developed a connection with a local church, 1st Reformed Church of Decatur, MI. This church has a heart for the community and is seeking help in “U-Turning”, much like Faith Church has done in the last 20 years or so.
To that end, in addition to their regular 9AM service, there will be an added 11AM service that will be a video service from Faith Church. The goal is to provide a venue that appeals to the community, to gather a bunch of believers and disconnected people together, to infuse energy and excitement, to model outreach, and to cast a vision of a bright future for this local church. The hope is that 1st Reformed Church of Decatur, will be revitalized and receive a shot in the arm to be a vibrant church in this area.
It is not a site of Faith Church, but rather two churches coming together to reach out and share the love of Christ in unique and meaningful ways in a community that is ripe for the Gospel to take root.
So if you are a vacationer in this area, check it out at 11AM EST. Bring your love of Christ, share some energy, serve where you can and be a part of this cool movement!
