“The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, ‘Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?’” II Kings 7:12
We are a society of skeptics. Very rarely do we take anything we read at face value. Now this is not a horrible thing, because we also live in a world of deceit. “Free phone!”*with a 2 year agreement, “No delivery”*with purchases over $5000. Belief is a hard commodity to come by these days. The officer in II Kings 7 was a realist; “how could food be made available with such ease when we are under a military siege?” His doubt overcame him and he lost faith. When things seem too big to believe, God wants us to rest in the faith that He can do all things, including the biggest things that seem incredible in our assessment. For the officer, getting food to a starving town at the end of its rope was more than he thought God could do, but in the end, he was wrong. Where are you feeling hopeless today because you’ve forgotten God can? Where is He asking you to become less of a skeptic and believe His Word at face value?
