“Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did-with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.”
II Kings 23:25
People appreciate passion. Whether it’s a love of cars or the sciences, sports or history, you don’t have to be an expert to know when someone is passionate about something; it shows. It was said that Josiah was a passionate man towards God because he loved God with all his heart, soul and strength. Today we can have many passions, but has it ever been said of you that you are passionate towards God? For many, what they do on Sundays is the extent of their passion towards Jesus, but I wonder if there is more to this Christian walk than what we do on the weekend. I bet if we were to observe Josiah, he went to the Temple (Jewish equivalent of Sunday service), but I bet for the Word to say he loved God with all his heart and soul he talked often with others about the Lord and His Word. I bet we would see that love in action in how he interacted with the world all around him. How he spoke echoed his passion, what he looked at declared the same. What about you? What does your life lift up as your passion? Josiah separated himself from all the leaders in II Kings by his heart and passion towards God. What will your family and mine remember of us when the Lord calls us home. I pray it will be said that we were passionate about Jesus Christ, because where your passions is your heart, soul, mind and strength will follow.
