Today’s Chapter: I Kings 12

“So the king took counsel and made two calves of gold. And he said to the people, ‘You have gone up to Jerusalem long enough. Behold your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.’”
I Kings 12:28

Creating idols and giving these idols the credit for God’s deliverance out of slavery sounds absurd!   Think of how God must have felt after all that He did for the Israelites. Yet, sometimes, perhaps not so blatant, we do the same.   We give ourselves the credit and act like we accomplish things on our own. We claim we are “so lucky” when a car swerved and just missed us. Let’s make an effort to give God the glory for all He has done and give credit where credit is due!
