“For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.” I Kings 11:4
I don’t know about you, but I cried when I read today’s chapter. I read this numerous times before and knew what was coming but the tears were not only for the story of Solomon but for the story of mankind. Sin subtly separates us from God. Solomon’s wives wanted a place to worship their gods because Solomon had a temple to worship his God. Solomon built them places and sure enough, just as the Lord had told him he would do if he married women who did not worship the Lord God, Solomon ended up going with them to worship their false gods. Pray for a pure heart fully devoted to God; pray for accountability to help you stay close to God and praise God continually because a praiseful heart draws us close to Him.
