Today’s Chapter: Acts 10

“He said to them: ‘You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean.’” Acts 10:28

Equality in Christ Jesus was a new mentality to the new Jewish Christians. Previously they were God’s chosen people because they were born into a specific nationality. Now, because of Jesus, all mankind is offered the gift of salvation by God’s mercy and grace. The new Christians couldn’t refute the work of God before their eyes. God was teaching them and they were learning. We are learning. In some ways we’ve come a long way from slavery in America to equality of mankind. Yet, the inclination to create separation and to think of ourselves higher than others is still there. From the children on the playground kicking someone out of their playgroup to the adults eyeing up someone who dresses or acts differently than themselves, we need God’s help. Dear Lord, keep teaching us your ways and help us to look at others as you look at them… precious and equally loved by you.
