Today’s Chapter: Matthew 24

“And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

Matthew 24:12-14

We don’t like to think about the end of the world because we have so many things to accomplish and so many things to see. We would like to see the next generation grow up of whom many may be our own children and grandchildren. It is easy to become discouraged when we read of beheadings, wars, Ebola virus, famine and other injustice in the world. How could a just God allow such suffering? As we ponder those hard questions our response cannot be one of a defeatist and rejection of God. We must remember that God is and always has been in complete control. Jesus calls us to stand firm, trust, never stop proclaiming His name “and then the end will come.”
