Faith Church has adopted Bibich Elementary School right down the street from our church building.  Kids Hope is a mentoring program.  Our heart is to give selected children at the school a one-to-one relationship for one hour a week at the school building during the school day to improve upon their needs to succeed in life.

One hour a week is all that is needed to make a difference in a child’s life.  That hour is filled with tutoring, games, relationship building and lots of laughter.   Each mentor is interviewed, given a background check and trained to engage in a one-to-one relationship.  Separation of church-state is taught to be fully respected.  Our goal is to build confidence.  We believe that every child is unique and has great value in this world.

There are over 25 trained mentors in the program.  We believe there will be a need for more mentors in the 2008/2009 School year.  Many children are identified after the first or second report card to need a friend to help them be the best learners they can be.

We are hoping to grow in the Cedar Lake area with the Cedar Lake campus of Faith Church.  Our hope for the children of that community is that we might be able to bring the same quality of mentoring that has brought synergy and a sense of community to Bibich Elementary School.
